RoHS - Directive 2002/95/EC

Print Version

EU Directive 2002/95/EC dated 27th January 2003, aimed at limiting the use of certain dangerous substances in electrical and electronic products, comes into force on July 1st 2006. This creates new definitions for certain equipment categories. Article 2, Paragraph 1 of the Directive defines its validity for various equipment as per Appendix IA of Directive 2002/96/EC (WEEE). This lists all categories except Category (Medical Equipment) and Category 9 (Monitoring and Control Instruments) Almost all products for machine and plant construction and thereby all of JAQUET AG’s sensors and instruments therefore fall outside of the scope of the WEEE Directive.

In certain JAQUET AG products that are subjected to extreme temperature conditions, lead is used as a supplemental material in soft soldering processes.

Under clause 7 of the appendix to Directive 2002/95/EC such high temperature solder connections are expressly excluded from the lead regulations.

JAQUET AG of Basel has nevertheless decided to introduce lead free solder wherever appropriate. All of our instruments and most of the sensor components are already being developed and produced under a lead free regime.

All JAQUET AG products thereby already fulfil the requirements of the EU Directive 2002/95/EC.
